Not a lot of pictures I took going north from Franz Josef to just south of Greymouth where I took the Otira Highway to a place that was so incredibly beautiful I wish I'd  been able to stop and take pictures. The emphasis here is on "wish" because no person alive today has ever "stopped" on the trip across Arthur's Pass in Arthur's Pass National Park. Certainly not on a day with weather the way it was when I went across. If I'd pulled over I would have needed a helicopter and, for all intents and purposes, it looked like the bridge didn't exist ... we were driving on a cloud.

Neither did I take any pictures at the University of Canterbury as I was busy teaching. So the pictures pick up on the flight north from Christchurch as the plane approaches the south coast of North Island and Wellington.
